UVBH seeking applications from homeless Veterans

United Veterans Beacon House seeking applications from homeless Veterans who are looking for a Hand UP, not a hand out.

The United Veterans Beacon House is seeking applications for their Per Diem Transitional Home for Native American Homeless Veterans located in Promise, South Dakota.

You do not need to be a Native American to apply. You will need to have empathy and respect for their culture and service. Veterans will always obtain preference. Veterans other than Native American Veterans will be housed.

We are seeking Veterans who are legitimately seeking a drug and alcohol free, new and vibrant life where learning skills, volunteerism, participation and achievement all exist in a wonderful setting.

The United Veterans Beacon House Home and Farm is located on 29 acres of beautiful Moreau River Valley and will house 13 Veterans seeking a new life - a hand UP, not a hand out.

We are a zero tolerance, drug and alcohol free facility. This is a Per Diem based Home.

This is NOT a rest home or shelter. It is, however, a Transitional Home where every resident will participate in Trade and Life Skills Training along with volunteerism. A requirement is for everyone to learn, be grateful, live with dignity and want to help Veterans.

Listed below are some of the programs that will or are operating in the Promise, SD UVBH:

3 Acre Irrigated Organic Garden Greenhouse operation
Native American Crafts Classic & Antique vehicle Restoration
Chicken & Pheasant Raising Computer Skills Training
Antique Equipment Restoration Heavy Equipment training
Cooking & Food Service Woodworking/Carpentry
EMT Training & Certification General Farm Practices & Dairy

Some remuneration skills will be available and recommended.

If you are a Veteran seeking to start a new, wonderful life, been through a drug and alcohol and/or a PTSD program at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and can be recommended by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, please send your request, recommendation and a letter describing why you want this chance to get a Hand Up and not a hand out to The National Commander at the above address.

Strict United Veterans Beacon House rules will be enforced at all times.

When we have received your request an application, rules and overview will be mailed to you with a return envelope. If you are accepted as a resident we will cover transport within the USA, meals and accommodation to Promise, SD.

This page is not an offer of residency.
