The Hegins Trap Club

Club History
The Hegins Trap Club was formed in 1959. The president of the club is Clair Scheibe. This club is located .5 miles north of Hegins on Route 125, when you go over the hill look for the sign on the left. This is the only club represented by this page that throws lime green targets. The club has four traps.

These photos were taken at the shoot in December 1997. As you can see the snow has not yet come and it was a great day for trapshooting.  If you have never shot at Hegins, then you must experience shooting at the lime green targets and the fact that they have made some changes in the field layout. As you progress down the line, you come to a field that has no trap house. They moved the orientation of the field because a house was built, so that you were looking at it streight on from position 3. The new trap 4 is located, so that you are shooting at about a 30 degree angle over trap 3. Come on down to Hegins and try shooting at the lime green targets. Join Clair and the other members of the Hegins Trap Club on Febuary 8th.

The Valley Gun and Country Club

Club History
On the 13th of March 1923, Seventy five years ago. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania granted 11 men a charter for the Valley Gun and Country Club. Robert Eadie, A.W. Malice, E.C. Steck, William Eadie, Fred Brahler, R.S. Thomas, Harry Rienhart, Welden Gunlick, Clearence Haupt, Clerence Peifer, and Harry Phile. The present President Bob Degule,  informed me that some where there is a book published on the history of Elysburg and that there is a section devoted to the history of the Valley Gun and Country Club. From that humble beginning, one of the greatest trapshooting clubs was formed, It became the home graund for the PSSA. I have been trapshooting for a few years, so I can not speak of the greatness' of the club. But as trap shooter and publisher of The Traphouse, I can speak of the decline of the club. As of this date 28 December 1997, the Valley Gun and Country Club, has scheduled 4 shoots for 1998. The 3rd of April, the 16th of May, the 18th of October, and the 1st of November. Two years ago the club was refurbished, the outside of the club was replaced with aluminum.
This Club is located on State route 487, between Catawissa and Elysburg. The club has at least 8 traps (has available all of the PSSA lower traps) uses either a 2 or 4 bank system. They use ORANGE OR ORANGE DOME TARGETS.
